Congratulations to Barriere Secondary (BSS) students for their success at the Cariboo Regional Skills Competitions held at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops on Friday, Mar. 3.
BSS grade 12 student, Ally Dunn (not pictured), presently in the Culinary Arts program at TRU took top spot in the Regional Culinary Skills Competition with her poached salmon in court bullion with carrot battonet, broccoli florets and rice pilaf. There were also two egg dishes prepared, one poached over medium, and the other over easy.
Congratulations to grade 8 students, Adam Gordon, Evan Paul and Liam Hunt who were excited to win the Gravity Vehicle competition; and congratulations are also in order for grade 10 student Matlock Brown for achieving fourth place in the Gravity Vehicle competition at the Cariboo Regional Skills Competitions.
There were many other BSS students who also competed in the competitions and put on a good showing in representing their school.
A big thank you to Mr. Bryn Leary, the BSS shop teacher, and Mrs. Fennell, the trades and technology teacher who took the BSS students to TRU for the competitions.
The winning students will now be going on to the Provincial Competitions in Abbotsford on April 5.
