Local Lions served Santa and the community to get Barriere into the charitable spirit of Christmas.

The Barriere Lions Club held their annual Breakfast with Santa event on Sunday, Dec. 10, welcoming families to enjoy some delicious pancakes and visit with Santa who said, “I really enjoyed my visits with all the wonderful children in Barriere. They are so nice and I look forward to bringing them their presents this Christmas.”

Craft tables were set up for some fun creative time and every child attending took home a free storybook as a gift.

The breakfast event was the kickoff to the first annual Barriere Winterfest as the snow fell soft and steady around town for a perfect winter wonderland atmosphere with a wide variety of events on the go.

Barriere Lions secretary Milt Kruger said, “By all reports, a wonderful time was had by all. The Barriere Lions Club would like to thank the Barriere Food Bank, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, Yellowhead Community Services, our Fall Fair ambassadors Jesimae Harrison and Makayla Akey, along with Jamie Mosdell and Jen Kerslake for everyone’s time and support of the ‘Breakfast with Santa’ event. The Barriere Lions Club is having fun and working hard to better the local community and beyond.”

The secretary says the Lions are actively involved in community events, building and maintaining local infrastructure and supporting local citizens in need.

If you or anyone you know is interested in joining the Lions, they are continuously on the lookout for dedicated citizens wanting to make a difference in the community and have fun with a great group of like-minded volunteers.
