Scholarship Opportunities

There will be a presentation by EducationPlannerBC at Barriere Secondary School on Thursday, Dec. 14 during block B (second period). It is designed for 2024 grads, and the topics covered will include program and career pathways, students’ services, finances, applications, and using Education PlannerBC website.

All Grade 12 students will attend the session in room 103, Ms Minaker’s room. Students are asked to please arrive promptly, as they will be using Chromebooks and this will be a hands-on experience. Students not in English 12 this semester will be excused to attend this session.

Grade 12s who are interested in pursuing post-secondary training in a STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) are encouraged to apply for a Schulich Scholarship. There are more than 100 scholarships available to students across the country. Please see their website if this interests you. Have your application into Ms Gabel by Jan. 28, so that we can forward a nomination on your behalf.

For general scholarship and bursary opportunities please check the SD73 district scholarship page. This can be accessed either directly through the district website or through the school website “path to graduation/scholarship and bursaries” page.

Students interested in applying for the BC Excellence Scholarship and/or the Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship (described on the district website) are to have their applications in to the school by Jan. 15 in order to meet the district’s deadline.
