Last weekend Barriere Secondary School (BSS) had several fantastic basketball results. The senior girls finished just one game away from qualifying for provincials, the junior boys finished in the top four in the district championships and the junior girls won the district championships. Congratulations Cougars!
The Grade 10 and 12 careers classes recently received a presentation from TRU about program options. Grade 11 students were invited to have individual or small group meetings with the coordinator during C block and at lunch.
On Feb. 23 and 24 the Senior boys basketball team is competed in the Okanagan Championships. They lost a tough first game on Friday Feb. 23 and continued playing two games on Feb. 24 winning the first game against Vernon and losing the second 60 - 73 which took them out of the running for a spot in the provincials. BSS is very proud of all of the teams hard work, dedication and good sportsmanship this season.
This week starting on Feb 26, the Junior Leadership class will be facilitating a variety of activities under the theme of Random Acts of Kindness. They will be wearing their pink shirts on Feb. 28 in support of the theme acts of kindness.

If your child(ren) have any textbooks, library books, or Chromebooks buried in their room or around the house, please remind them to return them to the library. If these items are needed for 2nd Semester, students can sign them out once the inventory is complete. Thank you for your cooperation.
Free Tutoring:
BSS has received a financial grant that will enable the school to provide tutoring to student athletes. Any student in Grade 10, 11, or 12 as well as any student athlete currently is eligible to join tutoring sessions on Wednesdays from 315 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The program is scheduled to run until Spring Break. There will be a staff member present for supervision and the tutoring is provided by alumni of BSS. Attendance is on a drop in basis and students attending should bring their own work in which they wish to receive extra help. Light snacks will also be provided.
