Last week the Junior Leadership class promoted and distributed Candy Grams for Valentine’s Day.

Basketball playoffs continued for most teams last week. The Senior Girls opened their bid for the Provincials with a tough loss to the seventh-ranked school in the province. The Grade 7 boys won a hard-fought game with a three-point shot on the final play of the game. The Grade 7 girls also picked up their first win of the season.

I am pleased to share that we are expanding the free tutoring program beginning the week of Feb. 19. Any student in Grade 10, 11 or 12 may attend, as well as any student in Grades 7–12 who is a student athlete. Details are listed below.

Second semester course fees for Grade 9–12 (only students taking Art, Shop or Foods classes) have been assigned to students, and are eligible again for Student Financial Assistance Funding. Please claim or pay through the School-Cash online site.

Grad fundraiser: chili and bannock drive-thru dinner night

2024 Barriere spring soccer is here

Online registration is taking place from now through Friday, March 15. Use this online link to register (only during the dates above).

Textbooks, Chromebooks, and library books

As part of the transition to the second semester, we are conducting a mid-year inventory review. If your child has any textbooks, library books, or Chromebooks buried in their room or around the house, please remind them to return them to the library. If these items are needed for the second semester, students can sign them out once the inventory is complete. Thank you for your cooperation.

Free tutoring

BSS has received a financial grant that will enable the school to provide tutoring to student athletes. Any student in Grade 10, 11, or 12, as well as any current student athlete, is eligible to join tutoring sessions on Wednesdays from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m.

The program is scheduled to run until spring break. There will be a staff member present for supervision and the tutoring is provided by alumni of BSS. Attendance is on a drop-in basis, and students attending should bring their own work in which they wish to receive extra help. Light snacks will also be provided.
