This past week the Cougars hosted the John Barsby “School of Rock” assembly. John Barsby is a Secondary school in Nanaimo and they have a group of musicians travelling to Edmonton.
They are playing concerts at schools between Nanaimo and Edmonton and Barriere was one of two stops in the Kamloops area.
Earlier last week, several student leaders spent the day at Barriere Elementary School supporting their Track and Field Day.
On May 15, several students competed in the first annual Lahal tournament at Chase Secondary School. The Cougars finished in fourth place.
The golf team qualified for the Okanagan Championships, which will take place this coming week in Kamloops.
On May 16 the Senior Boys’ Rugby team competed in the West Zone playoffs. We will be updating more about rugby in the coming weeks.
I would like to recognize our grade 11 student, Jeff Fennell, who left today on an international trip with 4H Canada.
Two people were chosen from B.C. and Jeff will join the Canadian contingent touring various agricultural sites and farms throughout Ireland.
The events include the Balmoral Fair, near Belfast, as well as water buffalo, dairy, sheep and dog farms.
Congratulations Jeff!
