This week, students in Grades 10 and 12 attended the Simpcw Career Fair to explore opportunities for summer work and long-term careers. Additionally, Grade 7 students completed their outdoor experience, thanks to the volunteers at the Barriere Outdoor Club, who provided the opportunity to try cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Basketball playoffs commenced for some teams this week. The Senior Girls and Senior Boys advanced to the City Finals on Monday night against St. Ann’s. Both teams have also qualified for the Okanagan Championships next weekend. Both Grade 8 girls and boys teams also start their playoffs on Monday. On Friday Feb. 9, the Senior Boys travel to 100 Mile House for a tournament ahead of next week’s playoffs. Go Cougars!

Looking ahead to next week, The Strings Group will perform with the elementary school on Monday, February 12 at 11 a.m.

The Leadership class is also selling CandyGrams to be delivered on Valentine’s Day. Sales take place during break and lunch each day.

The BSS Spirit Wear online store has re-opened but will close on Feb. 12 and no late orders will be accepted.

A friendly reminder for students to bring cutlery from home. The disposable cutlery available in the cafeteria is designated to accompany meals provided through the cafeteria.

Textbooks, Chrome-

books, and

Library Books

As part of the transition to Semester 2, we are conducting a mid-year inventory review. If your child(ren) have any textbooks, library books, or Chromebooks buried in their room or around the house, please remind them to return them to the library. If these items are needed for Second Semester, students can sign them out once the inventory is complete. Thank you for your cooperation.

Student Athlete Free Tutoring

BSS has received a financial grant that will enable the school to provide tutoring to student athletes. Any student currently playing basketball is eligible to join tutoring sessions on Wed. from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The program is scheduled to run until Spring Break. There will be a staff member present for supervision and the tutoring is provided by alumni of BSS. Attendance is on a drop-in basis and students attending should bring their own work in which they wish to receive extra help. Light snacks will also be provided.
