On Oct. 1, 2023 a witness called the RCMP to report a female who had tried to access several cars in the Petro Canada parking lot. Members attended and located the subject of complaint who was intoxicated by alcohol. After a short interaction, members later witnessed the same unlicensed individual getting inside of a vehicle which was uninsured, but registered. The licence plates were removed from the vehicle and it was towed until the owner is able to obtain insurance. Members provided the female with transportation to Kamloops.

On Oct. 2, 2023 Barriere RCMP received a report of an aggressive bear in DeeJay Trailer Park. Members were advised that a dog had chased the bear up a tree. The black bear appeared to be roughly two years old and had been frequenting the area looking for food over the past few weeks.

The caller requested that the bear not be shot and asked the conservation officers to set up traps the following morning. Police were later advised that the bear was scared away with loud fireworks and possibly not in the area anymore. Members patrolled the park later that day and contacted the Conservation Officer Service to make them aware of the situation.

On Oct. 3, 2023, Barriere RCMP detachment commander, Cpl. Camalush, provided a presentation to the Chu Chua (Simpcw First Nation) community with respect to cyberbullying and internet safety. The Barriere RCMP detachment continues to offer presentations within community and at the local schools.
