Barriere Library offering Unplug and Play Week activities Jan. 23-27

During the upcoming Interior Savings ‘UnPlug and Play’ Week, the Thompson Nicola Regional District Library in Barriere will be hosting a display full of ‘unplugged’ activity boosting materials, as well as a scavenger hunt in the library.

Branch head librarian, Pam Rudd says, “I will have several ‘craft to go’ kits available for pick up that week in addition to all of the events during the week-long activities.”

As part of the Literacy Week activities there will be a Storytime corner in which kids learn literacy skills through stories, songs, finger-plays, and rhymes for children and their caregivers. This will be for ages from babies up to five years old and a free drop in on Tuesday, Jan. 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Barriere Library.

On Thurs. Jan. 25, there will be a ‘Money Madness’ in-person event for teens and tweens teaching them how to make smart financial decisions, learning about financial literacy through talks, game playing and crafts. Ages 11 thru 18 are welcome and *Registration is required. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and goes until 7:30 p.m. at the Barriere Library.

Do you practice one of the fibre arts? Fibre Fun for Adults will take place on Friday, Jan. 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. offering a great time to share patterns, ideas or simply chat with others as you work on your projects. This is a drop-in event.

It’s Lego Club Time on Sat. Jan. 27 from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for all children and their caregivers that love Lego. Build, design and create together during this drop-in day of fun at the library in Barriere.

If you Love Anne of Green Gables you’ll enjoy ‘Dear Anne-Art Journaling’ on Sat. Jan. 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Barriere Library. *Registration is required.
