They’re at the post! They’re off!
Over 90 women gathered on the night of Feb. 25, at the fall fair hall for the Anti Violence Advocates Society (AVA) Kentucky Derby ‘Barriere Style’, where a great time was had by all.
The Barriere Lion’s manned the bar, Harley Wright and Frank Gordon handled the Derby, the Blue Jar produced a lovely array of snacks and desserts, and Bev Murphy did a wonderful job helping with the hall decorations again.
Quality Contractors donated generously to the event when approached, and all the funds raised from this awesome evening goes towards keeping the Respectful Relationships program running in the elementary and high school.
The Silent Auction was run a little differently with the highest hidden bid taking the basket.
A photo booth (with props) was very popular thanks to Sheila LaCombe. Simpcw First Nation and Sam’s Pizza’s monetary donations really helped.
The Barriere Ambassadors were there, dressed to ‘the nines’ and were a great help during the evening. Barriere IDA Flower Shop, and London Drugs in Kamloops, contributed generously toward the evening’s activities.
Barb Gordon once again did an outstanding job of organizing this event and we are so grateful for her many talents.
Thank you also to AVA Society board members and directors for all your help organizing this great event.
Stay tuned for the next ‘Ladies Night’. Who knows what we will come up with next?
