Nicky’s Red Wagon campaign has been a fundraising event for the Barriere Food Bank since 2005. It’s a place to drop off Christmas gifts and food to benefit those accessing the local food bank services.

Nicholas “Nicky” Robert Grummett passed away in 2005 at the age of 15. Volunteering and fundraising were important to the teen, who at a very early age organized a fundraiser for the local food bank. Nicky’s Red Wagon is a compassionate legacy in remembrance of this giving local teen.

The wagon is located at the Interior Savings Insurance office in Barriere, and will be collecting items that can be given as Christmas gifts for children, teens, and seniors.

There will also be food hamper packs on sale at AG Foods for $10 each. The packs go to the Barriere Food Bank for the food hamper distribution this year.

People can also purchase individual items of food rather than a hamper pack. Examples of items that are needed include:

• Tins of fish, such as salmon or tuna

• Spaghetti or other dried pasta

• Breakfast cereal

• Toiletries, such as shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrushes

• Boxed juices

• Gift cards

All donations are “greatly appreciated” says Laura Stephens, customer service representative for Interior Savings.
