The fifth annual Mad Hatter’s Tea Party on March 9 was a great success, with $400 being raised for this year’s charity, the Barriere First Responders.
Every year the Mad Hatter chooses a different local group to be the recipient of the funds raised.
Puzzles were puzzled over, and many tried the croquet game while waiting for lunch to arrive. Hats were, of course, very important, and the people with the best ones had first dibs on the prizes. With 30 main prizes and nine door prizes, everyone went home with at least one prize, and many left with two.
While everyone enjoyed the pizzas brought in from Sam’s Pizza and Rib House, the judges were busy deciding which hats were most worthy of recognition. The awards went to:
Best Hat Overall: Josie Wilson
Most Creative Hat: Cynthia Jensen
Best Youngster’s Hat: Cameron Murphy
Most Authentic Hat: Megan Rutten
Most Unique Hat: Lindell Smith
After the winners picked their prizes, the rest of the prizes were drawn from the entry tickets until every prize was gone.
Thank you to our sponsor, The Printroom at Armour Mountain Bookkeeping and Tax Services Inc., for printing the tickets, posters, and placemats at no charge. Your generosity means that much more of the profits can go to the Barriere First Responders. Thanks also go to the Barriere Lions Club, who let us use the hall for this fun family event.
