The Telus Nancy Greene Alpine Classic will return to Sun Peaks Resort with a new course and format on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25.
Straying from the traditional dual-slalom format, the new skier- and boarder-cross course will feature berms, rollers and turns.
The race, to be held on a professionally designed course tailored for fun and recreational use, will use a four-person team format, with at least one member of the opposite sex on each team.
The new course will be constructed on Suncatcher in early February by world-renowned course designer Jeff Ihaksi of White Industries.
Participants will have an opportunity to learn from the world’s best, as 2010 Olympic ski-cross gold medalist Ashleigh McIvor will be giving complimentary coaching sessions.
The long-standing Sun Peaks event, now in its 21st season, has raised more than $500,000, with proceeds going to Sun Peaks Health Association, Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital Foundation and Sun Peaks Junior Ski Racing.
