Volunteers will continue their search this Saturday for Daniel Ritchie, who went missing in East Blackpool earlier this month.
A search last weekend failed to turn up any leads on the missing man. Daniel’s sister Kara Ritchie said the family last spoke to Daniel on Oct. 8. His Ford pickup rental truck was five days later, abandoned about 14 kilometres up 1130 Forest Service Road, off of Dunn Lake Road. The vehicle Daniel regularly used is at a shop for repairs in Kamloops and his rental truck had been due to be returned on the weekend of Oct. 9.
Kara said they don’t believe Daniel, who has been living and working in Valemount on the pipeline, was hiking in the area.
Clearwater RCMP and Wells Gray Search and Rescue teams have given the community, Ritchie and other volunteers the green light to help with the search in the area.
An event has been posted on Facebook seeking volunteers. The search group will meet at the Tim Hortons in Clearwater at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.
Volunteers are reminded that the search area is wooded with tough terrain, so to be aware and prepared. The search will be conducted in small groups for safety in 4x4 vehicles due to road conditions.
Ritchie is also asking the community to reach out to Crime Stoppers or the Clearwater RCMP if anyone saw Daniel or the rental truck in the week leading up to the events.
Those who would like to join in the search can reach out to Kara Ritchie through Facebook messenger or text at (250) 571-8682.
