Vernon council is sharing the progress made on their three-year strategic plan (2023-2026).
Among the key achievements council has mentioned is:
- Completion of the Lakeview Heights Peanut Pool
- Silver Star Road multi-use path
- Vernon Tourism brand refresh
- Age and Dementia friendly community plan
- Active Living Centre, with the first concrete pour scheduled for late July
“Our progress in the first year of the strategic plan shows we’re on the right track,” said Mayor Victor Cumming. “We’re committed to continuing this momentum and making Vernon an even better place to live and thrive.”
Terry Barton, director of planning and community services with the city, was happy with the work done, but admits that there is "much more" work to do.
"Staff and administration will keep working hard to support council and the community’s vision for the City’s future growth."
There are several other significant projects currently underway, including the development of a new Official Community Plan (OCP) and Transportation Plan. Once these are complete, they will provice a road map for the communty's growth and development.
