A wildfire was reported on June 4 near Clearwater Lake in Wells Gray Park and is now roughly 30 hectares in size.
Kamloops Fire Centre (KFC) said no crews are onsite today, June 6, but a helicopter and one personnel went out in the morning to evaluate the wildfire to determine a plan of action and conduct fire assessment.
It’s classified as being held, meaning there’s no anticipation of further spread beyond the existing boundaries, and isn’t considered a threat to the public added KFC.
A 13-hectare fire, suspected to be caused by lightning, is also burning near Windy Lake, about 30 km west of Clearwater, and is said to be under control.
