Snow is to blame for multiple flight cancellations last Friday at Kamloops Airport.

Two incoming flights — both Air Canada planes inbound from Vancouver — were cancelled due to snow falling in the Lower Mainland. As a result, two outgoing Air Canada flights — one to Vancouver and the other to Calgary — were also cancelled.

“Initially it was related to the snow in Vancouver, because they were getting it first more than we were,” said Heather McCarley, managing director at Fulton Field.

McCarley urged all air travellers to double-check the status of their flights during inclement weather and allow extra time to get to the airport.

“Always, when we have snow, not just in Kamloops but also in other places like Vancouver, always be checking,” she said.

“And when there’s snow on the roads, allow yourself a little extra time to get to the airport and to get through the airport processes.”
