The second production well in Bradford Park is nearing completion in the District of Barriere.
Colleen Hannigan, CAO for the District of Barriere reported on the second Bradford well status to this newspaper last Tuesday.
“The screens, that vary through the deep aquifer, were ordered on May 24 and have now been installed,” said Hannigan, “JR Drilling Central (JRDC) worked over the weekend (June 10) to complete final air-jetting of the screens to develop the area of the aquifer around the screens to provide the best water production possible.”
Thierry Carriou, from BC Groundwater (who are the District’s well contractor) says, “It is a real whopper, and is producing about 40 per cent more than the first Bradford production well. Only by undertaking an extended pump test on both wells will there be certainty as to its expected yield once in full production.”
Hannigan noted that JRDC has extended the monitoring well casings to the 200 year flood elevation to allow for fill to be placed prior to conducting the pumping tests.
“The fill is coming from the excavation that has started for the new reservoir project up off Mountain Road,” said the CAO, “Some of the extra fill, not required for any parts of the project, has been deposited just outside the KP Park Ball diamonds to be used for the future skate park.”
Hannigan also advised that the same contractor that is building the new reservoir, True Construction, will be responsible for the new pump house structure which will serve the Bradford Park wells.
