An individual was served a driving prohibition after a driver fitness check was conducted by Salmon Arm RCMP.
Around midnight on Saturday, July 13, RCMP began following a blue Mazda swerving slowly in its lane. The Mazda was pulled over and police could smell alcohol coming from the driver, the vehicle's sole occupant.
"The driver also admitted to consuming some alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening," said Const. Andrew Hodges in a media release.
Two breath demands were conducted, both resulting in "fail." The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. Hodges said the matter was referred to RoadSafetyBC.
Breath demand denied
At 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, patrolling officers found a Honda CR-V swerving on Lakeshore Drive, travelling 30km/h in a 50km/h zone.
A traffic stop was initiated and a breath demand was given to the driver. Hodges said the driver refused to give a proper breath sample after several offers.
"A refusal to provide a breath sample carries the same penalty as blowing a fail," said Hodges.
The driver was served a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. The matter was referred to RoadSafetyBC.
