The board of the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen received more than $564,000 in remuneration in 2022.
The figures were released in the regional district’s Statement of Financial Information. This information is required by local governments and must be made available to the public by the end of June.

The board chair, vice-chair, directors and alternate directors received a total of $564,508 in remuneration and claimed $41,376 in expenses. A total of 42 people were included on this list.
Board chair Mark Pendergraft received $76,700 in remuneration and claimed $9,766 in expenses in 2022. This is higher than the compensation for any other board member.
Compensation for other members of the board ranged from $$36,974 for director Subrina Monteith to $189 for alternate director Brian Mason.
A total of 42 people are listed in the board remuneration and expenses portion of the report. This includes directors and alternate directors from nine electoral areas and six municipal councils within the regional district. In addition, the election for local governments, held in the fall of 2022, resulted in some changes to people on the board.
Compensation is based on the meetings attended. Those elected to the board as representatives of the nine electoral areas receive greater compensation than those who have been appointed as representatives from the municipal councils in Penticton, Summerland, Princeton, Keremeos, Oliver and Osoyoos.
The remuneration is slightly higher than in 2021 when the 33 directors and alternate directors received $563,083 in remuneration and claimed $12,327 in expenses.
The regional district covers a land area of more than 10,400 square kilometres and has a population of more than 90,000.
