Incident on Hwy. 5 near Rayleigh results in traffic delays

MVI involving two vehicles has highway reduced to single-lane alternating traffic

An incident on Hwy.  5 near Rayleigh, north of Kamloops, has reduced the highway to single-lane alternating traffic between CN Junction Road and Devick Road.

The incident, which involves two vehicles, occurred at approximately 9 a.m. on Saturday (May 10).

Witnesses posting on social media described one vehicle as a grey Ford F-150 with the back driver’s side tire and wheel missing. The second vehicle, an older pickup truck, was on its side.

"South East District Traffic members are on the scene of an accident south of Rayleigh on Highway 5," says an updated media release from Sgt. Darren Dodge of the Kamloops detachment.

"Traffic is down to alternating lanes with flaggers on scene. The highway is not expected to fully reopen for several hours and delays can be expected. There will be an update when the highway is fully reopened."
