March 5, 2018, Sun Peaks, B.C. - The family of Ryan Shtuka is renewing their call for volunteers and tips to help in finding the missing 20-year-old man.
Ryan was last seen leaving a home in Sun Peaks, B.C., in the early hours of Feb. 17, 2018 and was believed to be walking a short distance home. He never showed up for work later that day and hasn’t been seen since.
“We are so thankful for those stepping in to volunteer with us in the search for Ryan. Many of our friends have traveled from Alberta, and many others have joined in from the Sun Peaks area. This is a tight-knit community that really cares about the people who live here,” said Heather Shtuka, Ryan’s mom.
Volunteers are needed to help continue the ground search in the Sun Peaks and surrounding areas, and to canvas the Resort area with flyers and ribbons. All volunteers are asked to check the Missing: Ryan Shtuka Facebook page for the command centre location. Please remember to wear proper winter clothing and boots, all other equipment (maps, poles and snowshoes) will be provided.
The Alberta chapter of the Canadian Search and Disaster Dogs Association also agreed to assist in the search for Ryan. CASDDA were scheduled to arrive in Sun Peaks on Tuesday, and to begin working Wednesday morning through Friday. Volunteers are not needed for a ground search on these days.
The family is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to Ryan’s whereabouts.
