The Barriere Elementary School was buzzing with activity on Wednesday morning, Dec. 18 in anticipation of the annual Christmas concert, which this year was titled ‘Twas One Crazy Christmas Night Before Christmas.
The concert theme took some twists and turns away from the traditional Night before Christmas with some tractor driving reindeer steering the way, three imposter Santas caught by cunning detectives and a family getting ready for Christmas in their own way put to music by BES classes.
BES principal Mikel Brogan said, “The 2024 - 2025 Winter Concert at Barriere Elementary was another huge success! Every class and student participated in this year’s rendition of the play, titled 'Twas One Crazy Christmas Night Before Christmas and the school hosted two performances, a matinee and an evening show, with hundreds of attendees enjoying the spectacular event.
“A heartfelt thank you goes to Linda Underhill for her incredible efforts in bringing this production to life. Additional thanks to the other staff members who played vital roles in the concert’s success. Our thanks goes to, Sarah Wolfe (CEA), Emma Kivari (Grades 3 and 4 teacher), Lynn McGravey (Grades 1 and 2 teacher), and Monica Peterson (Grade 1 teacher). Your dedication and teamwork made the night truly memorable!”
PAC member and mother, Vicki Maddocks, added, “The Grade 6 class hosted their basket raffle with proceeds going to their end of elementary school trip to Eagle Bay with a goal of $7,600. So far with the craft fair sales at the end of November and the concert basket raffle the students have now raised $2,508 toward the end of year trip.”
