Taps are being turned off for some Lavington residents this week.

Water main tie-in work will cause a temporary disruption of water service on Learmouth and School roads Tuesday, July 16 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Residents will also be without water on Learmouth Road and Angust Drive on Wednesday, July 17 during the same hours.

The work is part of ongoing efforts by the Regional District of the North Okanagan (RDNO) to maintain water quality and infrastructure.

Residents are advised to:

  • Store an adequate supply of water for drinking, cooking, household needs, and sanitation purposes.
  • Ensure that faucets are turned off to prevent any damage once water service is restored.
  • Plan for any activities that may require water, such as bathing or laundry.

Following the water interruption, a 48-hour water quallity advisory will be in effect.

As well, residents may notice reduced water pressure, air in the water, discoloration and/or increased turbidity (cloudiness).

Residents are asked to run a cold tap until the water has cleared - an outside tap is preferred.

The level of treatment provided by the RDNO will be maintained; however, residents may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.
