UPDATE: Water quality advisory rescinded for Vernon's BX area

Advisory lifted for residents along parts of Dixon Dam Road, Briggs Road and Hartnell Road

UPDATE April 17:

The latest water quality advisory has been lifted.

In conjunction with Interior Health, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) has recinded the advisory issued to parts of Dixon Dam Road, Briggs Road and Hartnell Road (see map).

"A brief loss of power to a pump station in this area resulted in the loss of water for a short time to some properties on April 15, 2025," the RDNO said. "The issue was corrected, and flushing was completed. The RDNO issued a WQA to the affected area while sampling and testing of the water main occurred to ensure the continued safety of the water system."

ORIGINAL April 15:

A water quality advisory is in effect for some residents in the Foothills area of Vernon.

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) and Interior Health advised Tuesday that some Greater Vernon Water customers are on a precautionary water quality advisory until sampling results confirm their water is safe to drink. The affected area includes parts of Dixon Dam Road, Briggs Road and Hartnell Road as shown on the map in the above photo gallery.

A lack of pressure at a pump station in this area has resulted in a loss of water. At 5:45 p.m. April 15, the regional district said crews were on site and flushing will be completed. The advisory is being issued while sampling and testing of the water main takes place to ensure the safety of the water system.

When the water service resumes, properties in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water and/or air. They are advised to run a cold water tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred.

"The level of service and treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, some customers may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing their teeth," the RDNO advised.

Updates will be posted to rdno.ca/news (filter by water notices).

Questions can be directed to the RDNO utilities department at 250-550-3700.
