Police are asking the public for information relating to the death of a 66-year-old woman from Sicamous, and advised caution among the public.
Shortly before 5 a.m. on June 19, the Sicamous RCMP and BC Ambulance Service responded to the call of a woman who was reportedly unresponsive at a mobile home park on Hillier Road. Despite medical assistance being administered, the woman was declared dead at the scene.
"We can confirm that the deceased is 66-year-old Jo Ann Jackson of Sicamous," Southeast District RCMP Cpl. James Grandy said in a June 20 media release.
"A male was located and in the area and subsequently arrested for manslaughter and transported to the Salmon Arm RCMP detachment."
The man was later released on Thursday, with a number of protective conditions to follow, primarily not to return to the 1707 Hillier Road property.
"Jackson's death is believed to be an isolated incident. However, investigators believe there could be a potential safety risk," Grandy added. "Therefore, police will also be implementing additional measures within our authority in an effort to mitigate public safety concerns."
Investigators are asking anyone who may have video, dash cam footage or information from the events that transpired at the Hillier Road property between 1 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on June 19, to contact the Major Crimes Unit tip line at 1-877-987-8477.
