A Vernon doctor facing six charges of sexual assault will be sentenced for one of them this spring.
Peter Inkpen entered a guilty plea in Vernon Law Courts on Feb. 29, 2024, ahead of his trial that was set to begin on March 4. Sentencing is now set for June 6 in Vernon.
On one of the other charges, April 3 has been reserved for a Charter argument, according to Gordon Comer, BC Prosecution Service deputy director of policy and justice issues headquarters. March 18 has also been reserved for the court to render a decision on a different Charter application.
May 18 has been reserved for final argument on trial.
Inkpen still has four other outstanding charges.
The accused 42-year-old was arrested on July 14, 2022 and was released on conditions to have no contact with the victims.
At that time there were two sexual assault charges and Vernon North Okanagan RCMP issued a press release to the public believing there may be others with more information regarding the incidents.
On Jan. 25, 2024, four more counts of sexual assault were approved against Inkpen.
