Salmon Arm RCMP took two impaired drivers off the road within a few hours of each other on May 29.

Salmon Arm RCMP doubled down on impaired drivers, taking two off the road within three hours.

At 9 p.m. on May 29, an officer said a white Honda Accord going 93 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on 4th Avenue SW.

A traffic stop was conducted, with the driver exhibiting physical symptoms of alcohol impairment.

A breath sample was taken, and the driver blew a "fail," resulting in a driving prohibition of 90 days, and his truck being impounded for 30 days. He also received a $368 violation ticket for excessive speed.

At 11:45 p.m. that same night, an officer stopped a Dodge Charger with a Yukon plate after observing it "completely in the oncoming lane" on Lakeshore Drive NW.

"Police could see an open bottle of Captain Morgan rum in the front seat cup holder," Const. Andrew Hodges said in a media release. "The 21-year-old male driver had heavily slurred speech and advised police he only had his class 7L licence."

The driver claimed to have last had alcohol about 20 minutes earlier, and blew a "fail" when a breath demand was conducted. He was prohibited from driving for 90 days and had his car impounded for 30.
