The Regional District of Nanaimo wants the public's thoughts on its Mount Benson Regional Park management plan update.

The RDN has revised its vision for the electoral Area C-situated park, to account for two new parcels of land, guide the park's direction for the next decade and for the evolution of its 2010-20 park management, a press release stated. Phase one of consultation will ask residents and recreational enthusiasts for their input, "to help build an understanding about the park’s natural, cultural and recreational values and to collect ideas for the park’s future."

Opportunities to provide input will come in the form of an online survey, open until June 9, in which respondents will be asked about park usage and thoughts on management and stewardship.

In addition, an open house is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, at 2761 Benson View Rd. in Nanaimo from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The management plan is slated to be finalized this fall.
