The municipality of Summerland has draft trail plans for two local mountains available for viewing.

Public feedback is wanted for draft trail plans for Conkle Mountain and Cartwright Mountain in Summerland.

These plans were created to outline the recommended steps that can be taken, if and when resourcing is available, to establish a more coordinated and formalized approach to the development and management of the trail systems.

“We are proud of our trail network in Summerland, which provides recreation and tourism opportunities, and supports the health and well-being of our residents,” said Coun. Erin Trainer.

“Creation of these plans is a critical council priority because we want a trail system which is safe, environmentally friendly and which grows sustainably alongside our community. We invite everyone to take the time to be involved in this important work.”

The municipality is inviting trail users, interested parties and residents to review the plans and share their input.

Surveys are available online, with the plans and survey information available at www.summerland.ca/trails-plans.

In addition, an open house will be held on Wednesday, May 21 at the George Ryga Arts and Cultural Centre, 9525 Wharton St., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

RC Strategies, the municipality’s consulting team, will provide an introductory presentation of the plans at 6 p.m.
