A power outage occurred at 4:17 p.m. on Friday, April 26 with BC Hydro reporting the cause of the outage as a ‘motor vehicle accident’ east of Westsyde Road, north-west of Heffley Louis Creek Road and south of Highway 5. Hydro states there are 518 customers affected by the outage.
Hydro reports a crew is on site. Black Press happened upon the scene at approximately 5:30 p.m. to find two large fire engines blocking both ends of the road to cordon off the hydro substation there. A silver pick up truck could be seen having come to rest against a second power pole in front of the substation with it’s front hood crushed in.
Hydro crews and local fire rescue were on scene keeping traffic from entering the area from either direction.
No word on the driver or or when power will be restored at the time of last BC Hydro update at 7:54 p.m.
