A boater is missing as his aluminum skiff was found washed up on shore and his canoe was found adrift.

Nanaimo RCMP, in a press release Monday, Dec. 4, advised that they are searching for Ryan Pratt, 35. The RCMP’s marine services division and search and rescue crews are also involved in the effort.

The man was reported last seen Friday, Dec. 1, at approximately 4 p.m., on a red aluminum skiff that was headed back to the sailboat on which he resides that was moored off of Hammond Bay. He was reported missing on Saturday, Dec. 2.

According to a news release from the RCMP, officers went out to the sailboat and found no signs of the missing man. The skiff was found washed ashore on a nearby island, and a canoe he frequently used was adrift.

Anyone with information about the man’s whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
