Drums will unite the nation on July 1.

Canada Day Drumming is taking place in more than 20 cities across the country, including Kelowna.

The annual event was started by the Legacy 150 Celebrations Society out of Vancouver in 2017 and aims to deepen intercultural understanding, promote patriotism, and enhance civic engagement.

The theme of this year's drumming event is "One Beat. One Nation. Together We Drum. Together We Stand."

“This event is more than a performance—it’s a celebration of our shared identity and the strength of our diversity,” said Richard Wong, National Committee Chair. “Whether you’re in a big city or a small town, we invite you to drum with us and help build a moment of true national unity.”

Kelowna residents are invited to bring their drums, pots and pans to Stuart Park on Canada Day at 11:30 a.m.

Other B.C. municipalities hosting a drum circle are Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Richmond, Kamloops, and Prince Rupert.
