Family Fun Night kicked off fun Family Day events in Barriere

Family Fun Night attracted many Barriere and area families out for a night of laughter, games and Uncle Chris time on February 16

Family Fun Night on Sunday, February 16 at ‘The Ridge’ in Barriere kicked off the weekend of Family Day activities.

It was the eleventh annual Family Fun Night held in Barriere hosted by the North Thompson Activity Centre Society (NTACS) and the District of Barriere Recreation Committee (DOBRC).

“Another evening filled with laughter, giggles, art and sugar! Kids got to enjoy bouncy castle fun, the hilarity of Uncle Chris the Clown, arts and crafts, balloons, face painting by the Girl Guides and music,” said Tasha Buchanan of the DOB.

Buchanan reported “the grown-ups weren’t left out either” and families had an interesting “but also fun” introduction to Barriere’s FireSmart program through some games and colouring.

Parents enjoyed a “peaceful escape” in the parent retreat room with tea, pastries and free massages courtesy of Barriere’s Just 4 U Reflexology along with a silent auction filled with a wide array of items to bid on. Donations and silent auction proceeds totalled over $3,000 which will support children and youth programs in the community, Buchanan said.

“Both NTACS and the Barriere Recreation Committee sincerely thank our local businesses who stepped up to support this beloved family event with silent auction items. It also must be mentioned that Barriere truly has amazing individuals that always volunteer to lend a hand in making sure everyone has a fun night during this annual event celebrating family fun.”
