A sign posted at the Raven railway crossing says the crossing will be closed 30 days from Feb. 24, 2025.

The City of Salmon Arm says it's looking to a safe, affordable access to the east end of the Foreshore/Raven Trai along Shuswap Lake.

In a social media post shared on Friday, Feb. 28, the city said it is aware of CPKC signage regarding the planned closure of the private rail crossing at 47th Avenue NE in Raven.

"We understand the community’s desire for an access point to the foreshore trail near this location and want to assure residents that we are actively looking into a safe and affordable solution," reads the post.

A CPKC sign at the crossing says it will be closed 30 days from Feb. 24, 2025.

Mayor Alan Harrison could provide no further details than what was shared in the post.

"We certainly will be communicating when the time is right for us to communicate," said Harrison. "We’re working on the situation and working on a solution, we hope."

The Observer will provide more information as it becomes available.
