Step Forward Health Society invites the community to come together for a family-friendly walk and celebration of mental health.
More than just a fundraiser, Move for Mental Health is billed as a powerful expression of community connection, collective care, and shared commitment to reducing stigma and making mental health support accessible to everyone.
“This walk is an invitation for people from all walks of life to come together in solidarity,” Step Forward Health Society president Meg Neufeld said in a press release. “We know that mental health flourishes in community — in spaces where people feel seen, supported and valued. That’s what this event is all about.”
On Saturday, May 3 at Fishers Field in Deas Island Regional Park, participants will enjoy a gentle 2.5-kilometre walk followed by a community barbecue, family-friendly activities, and time to gather, connect and learn, according to an event press release. All ages and abilities are welcome to join in this celebration of inclusion, healing and hope.
All proceeds from Move for Mental Health will go directly toward Step Forward Health Society’s accessible and community-based programs, including counselling, peer support groups and mental health services for youth, families and individuals who might not otherwise be able to access care.
Local organizations and businesses are rallying to be part of the day, creating a groundswell of support that reflects the growing awareness of the need for accessible mental health care in Delta and across the region. Among them is Alongside You, a Delta-based integrated health clinic specializing in mental health and chronic conditions.
“As mental health professionals, we know the power of community in fostering well-being,” Alongside You CEO Andrew Neufeld said in a press release. “We’re proud to walk alongside others and champion this cause together.”
