Chilliwack council approved the annual contract for road-rehab work at the Tuesday (Oct. 10) council meeting.
City of Chilliwack goes out to tender for “asphalt rehabilitation work” every year in order to “maintain the driving surface” and reduce maintenance costs.
This year B.A. Blacktop Ltd. was selected with a price of $3.19 million, after staff recommended it be awarded the tender according to the staff report in the council agenda package.
That company was one of four firms to submit a price along with All Roads Construction Ltd. ( $3.68M) Lafarge Canada Inc., ($3.74M) and Key West Asphalt Ltd. ($3.82M) for the 2023 tender.
The list of basic works are for the roads classified as “in need,” based on a road survey updated every five years.
The last time a comprehensive survey was completed was by Stantec consultants in the summer of 2017. The next survey is currently underway with field work completed in August 2023 and an expected report delivery of mid-October.
