Mission RCMP is searching for a boat stolen from the Fraser River last week.
According to the detachment’s weekly “Community Connection” crime recap, police received a report the boat was stolen from a dock some time between May 30 and June 1.
Mounties say the boat was a 16’ aluminium Alumaweld workboat with a 50 hp Mercury outboard and the front of the hull was marked with the name “SS Vancie Boy.”
The theft was one of 362 calls for service for the detachment between June 2 and 8.
Multiple vehicles were also stolen last week. Per the release, a grey 2020 Toyota Rav 4 was stolen on the night of June 1-2 from a residence on 7th Avenue near Grand Street and found in Vancouver days later.
A grey 2001 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from Draper Street overnight on June 3/4 and was recovered in Abbotsford on June 8.
A Winnebago motorhome was stolen on June 4/5 from a property on Catchpole Avenue and found burned in Strathmore, Alberta on June 12.
One more stolen vehicle from a grocery store parking lot has yet to be found – a black Range Rover.
Those with information on the thefts are urged to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
Local Mounties also nabbed an impaired driver on Firday (June 6) after an officer spotted a black Volkswagen Jetta with a headlight not working.
Police say the driver rolled a stop sign and didn’t pull over for the officer.
“When the Jetta did stop, the officer noted several empty beer cans in the back seat,” RCMP said.
“The 41-year-old driver provided a breath sample below the legal limit, however because he had a Novice driver’s license requiring him to have zero blood-alcohol content, he was issued a 12-hour driving prohibition and a ticket.”
RCMP also arrested a driver for driving while prohibited, who was issued a prohibition a week earlier for impaired driving. A traffic services officer noticed a vehicle with “an obvious defect” while on patrol on the Cedar Valley Connector on Sunday (June 8).
After recognizing the driver, he was arrested, the vehicle impounded, and charges of driving while prohibited are being recommended.
Mission RCMP also pulled a pair of excessive speeders off the roads last week. A 21-year-old Surrey man was ticketed after his purple Tesla travelled 128 km/hr in the 60 km/hr zone through Silverdale on June 8.
A 21-year-old Pitt Meadows man was also ticketed for driving 133 km/hr in the 80km/hr zone near Silverdale on June 9.
