It’s been just over a month since Sicamous residents heard gunshots that resulted in the district’s first murder of 2024, but police still have no further information to give.
On Feb. 24, Sicamous RCMP and the Southeast District Major Crime Unit responded to a shooting in the Best Western parking lot, where a man was found dead. The following day police released a description of a possible suspect vehicle, a black Mercedes G-Wagon, reportedly seen fleeing the area of the hotel westbound on Highway 1. Since then, nothing else has been released on the incident, including, the victim’s identity, the suspect or the Mercedes.
On April 3, the Eagle Valley News requested updates on the situation from Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, senior media relations officer of RCMP E Division. That, however, produced no new details.
“I have no updates that I can release publicly at this time,” he said. “Other than to say the investigation is active and ongoing.”
Anyone with information regarding the homicide can still contact the Southeast Major Crime Unit info line at 1-877-987-8477.
