The Cowichan Musical Society is holding auditions for their 2026 production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella at Duncan's Adagé Studio located at 540 Cairnsmore St. on May 24, and 25.

If the shoe fits, wear it. Some of the leading roles for this year's production are Cinderella (18-30 years old), Prince (18 to 30), Stepsisters (18-35), Stepmother (40+), Fairy Godmother (30+), Sebastian(18+), and Jean Michelle (18+). The age range is a simple guideline, and age does not have to be exact for those interested in sliding their foot into a particular character.

The 2026 production is already off on the right foot, with the dream team already selected including: drama director Judy Powers, vocal director Michelle Weckesser, choreographers Olivia Boudreau, and Candace Ammerman, and this year's production manager is none other than CMS president Irwin Killam.

Those who have any questions, or wish to submit a video audition, can contact Killam at killamirwin@yahoo.com. Otherwise musical theatre lovers and performers can register and book their spot under Cinderella auditions through signupgenius.com. Deadline for registration is May 20 by noon.

Those auditioning for a lead role, are asked not to come dressed in character, and decisions will be based on the person's vocal ability, so sing with the score that was written for the character. Call backs will be on May 25.

In the meantime stretch out those dancing legs, and vocal chords and have a ball doing it.
