LETTER: Canada can't 'play dead' in U.S. tariff war

Yes, we need to use our brains – but we also need to fight back

Canada can't just 'play dead' during a tariff war with the U.S., this writer says.

Editor,

I agree with Peace Arch News letter writer Lorill Drummund that we need brains not brawn to deal with new trade tariffs.

My brain tells me that allies cooperate for the betterment of both parties. Here we have one party throwing out all the threats, including taking away Canada’s nationhood and destroying the Canadian economy. Seems to be for the betterment of one side and the destruction of the other to me. Wishing for what we would like or how things should be done is kind of futile.

Yes, let’s use our brains, but ones that recognize the reality of the situation to come up with ideas to fight back, not lie on our backs and play dead.
