Mann Park Lawn Bowling Club held its season opening May 3 in White Rock.
Featuring a ceremonial march around the green, led by piper Kenneth Wright, the ceremonial first bowl was delivered by South Surrey-White Rock MP-elect Ernie Klassen, along with Surrey-White Rock MLA Trevor Halford and White Rock Mayor Megan Knight, an email noted.
Mann Park members Dianne Brynjolfson and Geoff Wells assisted the dignitaries on hand and gave the dignitaries on some instruction on rolling a bowl.
The club also held open houses on April 26 and May 10, where the public is invited to attend, and coaches provide an introduction to the game of bowls — a low-impact, strategic game that is great for all ages and abilities.
Mann Park, a natural grass club, welcomes new members to enjoy lawn bowling throughout the summer, the email continued, noting that in addition to the fun of lawn bowling, Mann Park is also a social club, with social events throughout the year including fun nights during the summer and dinner dances in the winter.
