An event advertised as Western Canada's largest halal food festival will return to Surrey this weekend, June 20-22.

Admission is free at BC Halal Food Fest, which brings food, live music, dance, rides, a market and more to Holland Park for three days, starting Friday at 3 p.m.

A few dozen food vendors will be set up including Korean BBQ,  Afghani sheeryakh (ice cream), Palestinian/Jordanian food, ribs and smoked barbecue, Hyderbadi biryani, Afghan cuisine, Nepalese momos, specialty chicken wings, birria tacos and other flavours listed on facebook.com/bchalalfoodfest.

No pork is served at the annual festival, according to Islamic dietary laws that dictate whether food is “halal,” or permissible. Pork is among foods not allowed.

The 2025 BC Halal Food Fest runs until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
