Oceanside A Cappella will join singers from across B.C. to raise their voices in the "Sing the World Better" BC Choral Federation Chorfest 2025 for Upper Voices event in Nanaimo on May 23 and May 24.
The event will culminate in a gala concert at The Coast Bastion Hotel on May 24 at 7:30 p.m.
It will be presented by close to 90 treble (upper voice) singers who will rehearse and perform under the direction of guest director, Kellie Walsh.
The concert will include the BC Choral Federation’s Sing The World Better treble (upper voice) choir with three guest treble voice choirs: The Nanaimo Youth Choir (Marian Smith), Oceanside A Cappella (Rosemary Lindsay) and The Island Bel Canto Singers (Fiona Blackburn).
Walsh has become known in Canada and internationally for the use of choral music as a medium to unite people and cultures, transcending geography and societal, political and economic circumstances.
She is the founder and Artistic Director of the internationally award-winning Lady Cove, the Artistic Director of the internationally celebrated, Shallaway Youth Choir, co-founder and Artistic Director Emeritus of Newman Sound Men’s Choir, and, most recently, co-founder of the Inuit Youth Choir Ullûgiagatsuk from Nunatsiavut, Labrador. Kellie is also the Past President of Canada’s national choral organization, Choral Canada.
