Justin Lev remembers the first mixtape he ever got, from a friend in fourth grade.
"It had U2, MC Hammer, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, Nirvana, and Johnny Cash," said Lev, of Silver Spring, Maryland. "I learned every word of every song and sang along at the top of my lungs."
Now a singer-songwriter, who performs as Eli Lev, has created his own mixtape - an EP called Walk. Talk. Dance. Sing.
And Lev is sharing it with Vernon, as he heads to SilverStar Mountain Resort Saturday, July 6 to play at the Red Antler at 7 p.m. for the free show.
"This will be my first time in Vernon and the Okanagan," said Lev.
The rising singer-songwriter pens lyrics and melodies for everyday enlightenment - songs that resonate because they’re heartfelt, earthy, and offer the wisdom he’s gained through lifelong travel and self-discovery.
His latest EP was inspired by the events of the pandemic and explores the range of emotions society and individuals endured.
"This collection of songs is essentially a pandemic mixtape of sorts - made just for you!"
