RCMP member changeover coming at detachment reports Mayor Smith

Two RCMP members will be leaving Barriere around the in April

District of Barriere Mayor Virginia Smith presented her report for Feb. 21 to Mar. 3, at the regular council meeting on Monday evening where only one member of the public was in attendance.

Smith’s report noted she attended the Kinder Morgan public information session in Barriere on Feb. 22, and noted she was impressed with the number of community members who came to the session.

The Mayor also reported she attended a Community Consultant Committee meeting in Barriere, which was also attended by RCMP Corporal Mancini who reported that things have been going well.

Smith stated, “Corporal Mancini will be leaving Barriere around the end of April and Constable McGregor will be leaving mid April. A replacement has been found for Constable McGregor’s position and he will hopefully start in May. The Corporal position has just been posted so we will probably not see that filled until late summer.”

At the same meeting, the Big Barriere Block Part II asked the District of Barriere to financial support for their 2017 event in June.  Council approved a grant in aid of $500 to the event.
