Coming up on Sunday, May 25 garden lovers have an opportunity to step into a world of vibrant colours, fragrant blooms and carefully curated landscapes.

The Ladysmith Rotary Club is offering a journey through their annual garden tour in Ladysmith and the surrounding area. This year's tour features a diverse array of gardens, each a testament to the passion and creativity of local gardeners. Prepare to be inspired by innovative designs, unique plant collections, and captivating stories behind these green havens, promising a day of botanical beauty and horticultural discovery.

This is the 25th anniversary of the event and it will showcase eight gardens of distinction.

“We don’t to do more, as it takes about three hours or more to complete the tour,” said Rotarian Gerry Beltgens.

“The gardens are chosen by our garden tour committee," Beltgens said. "Gardens are from the Ladysmith area and they come from recommendations from the community and application from residents.”

Some of the gardens on the tour will have artists in attendance and some will have a master gardener on site to answer questions.

The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at each location the owners will also be in attendance to help with questions and growing tips.

Beltgens said the tour is about six months in the making.

Tickets are $25 per person and that includes a program with a brief bio of each garden and it also includes a map to locate the gardens for this self guided tour.

“The funds collected from the garden tour are used towards projects that improve lives and support communities," Beltgens said. "The majority of the funds will be used in Ladysmith but we also support projects in other countries such as schools in Guatemala and emergency response through Disaster Aid Canada.

“It’s help from sponsors like the Ladysmith and District Credit Union that can make this possible for our club to prosper.”
