The event took place July 16
golffunnight
Chinook Cove Ladies Club gathered for fun night July 16.

Birds of paradise, wild cats of the jungle, pet bears and dogs, and … Cruella De Vil? It was quite the interesting cast of characters for our first fun night of the year!

Our theme of the night was pets and - as you can tell by the photo - the ladies certainly delivered in costumes and high spirits. Snacks and cold refreshments were at the door of the clubhouse to greet the ladies signing in, and a putting challenge was set up on the practice green for the ladies waiting for our shotgun tournament to start.

For the tournament, it was a basic four-man scramble. For a four-man scramble, you need four people in a group and everyone tees off and your team decides whose ball is in the best position and then, as a group, you hit your next stroke off the chosen ball position.

Continue until you sink your ball in the cup and move on to the next hole to tee off. With the four people on a team, everyone has to use one of her drives.

A shotgun start means everybody in the tournament starts at the same time and finishes at the same time. Everybody got to choose their own teams, we had flights mixed in together and combined putts, as well as a few extra animals that managed to sneak onto the course. It was a very fun night indeed.

Hole 1: short drive, flight 4, goes to Val Aylward and closest to the octopus, all flights and for any hit, goes to Chelsea Buxton.

Hole 2: long putt, split between flights 1 and 2, goes to Lorie Chambers and long putt, split between flights 3 and 4, goes to Rose Seymour.

Hole 3: long drive (with the opposite club), split between flights 1 and 2, goes to Marla Muldoon and long drive (with opposite club), split between flights 3 and 4, goes to Betty Foote.

KP time! Anita Hill got a KP on hole 4. Hole 5: long drive (with a 5 iron/5 wood/5 hybrid), for all flights, goes to Marla Muldoon and closest to the dog, all flights and for any hit, goes to Michelle Quigley.

That special time again, KP time! Terry Blaeser and Kayla Mosdell got KPs on Hole 6. Normally, you try to avoid getting close to the tree on Hole 7 so you have a clear shot at the green. But for this fun night, you get a prize for being as close to the tree as you can get. Marla Muldoon got closest to the tree.

Hole 8: closest to the birdhouse, all flights and for any hit, goes to Marla Muldoon and long putt, all flights, goes to Terry Blaeser.

Hole 9: closest to the cow, all flights and any hit, goes to Val Aylward. Long putt (with the wacky putter), split between flights 1 and 2, was unclaimed and long putt (with the wacky putter), split between flights 3 and 4, goes to Cindy Matthew. The ladies with the highest score were Jean Webber, Val Aylward, and Cindy Matthew with a score of 49. The ladies with the lowest score were Babes Shanko, Betty Foote, Monica Lee, and Zarina Mitchell.

There was an animal-themed trivia quiz for all the groups to complete and the group with the highest score won a prize. With a 7/10, the winning ladies were Leslie Stirling, Donna Salle, Lorie Chambers, and Donna Janning.

The announcement we are all waiting for, best costume goes to Cruella De Vil and her three Dalmatians! Also known by their human names as Emma Schilling, Kate Witmore, Jamie Mosdell, and Kayla Mosdell. It was a very fun ladies night, with an amazing dinner afterwards. Thank you to all of the staff at Chinook Cove! And now, to quote Porky Pig, “That’s all folks!”.
