Canada Day will be celebrated in Barriere with a party in Fadear Park beginning at 2 p.m.
An opening ceremony at the bandshell kicks off the event.
District of Barriere corporate officer Tasha Buchanan said there will be some greetings from dignitaries, live music performed by local musicians, free hot dogs, cupcakes and lawn games.
Adam La Rusic of The MoB (Musicians of Barriere) said himself, along with Liam Waller and 'Wild' Bill Fowler, will be performing for about an hour.
They will perform songs such as The Blackfly Song and the Log Driver's Waltz, both by Wade Hemsworth, and different songs for people of all ages.
"We will be doing some Canadian favourites and some you may have heard of, but hopefully like."
La Rusic said he moved to the Barriere during the pandemic from North Vancouver.
"I'd always planned to retire here, but we did it a few years early and moved up here. We bought a little acreage with a couple of ponies and chickens."
A semi-professional musician for 40 years, he immediately connected with all the musicians in Barriere.
"It's really good. I like to travel up to Clearwater and down to Heffley Creek and go to all the little coffee houses that everybody has and listen to other musicians."
When asked if Canada Day means anything to him, he responded "oh yah, especially these days."
"I served in Afghanistan for one year as well and I literally kissed the ground when I got off the airplane and landed in Canada."
La Rusic said Fowler has held the torch for music in Barriere for years.
"He was the first guy I hooked up with when I first got here. He's younger than the rest of us, but super talented."
