Barriere Secondary students honour Kamloops Residential School children with memorial garden

This year the Visual Arts class embarked on a mission to revitalize the rock garden on the east side of the school. Initially this project started as a way to honour those lost at the Kamloops Residential school. This year’s project provided an opportunity to continue the conversation with students and work towards Truth and Reconciliation. Dontay Parish, provided student leadership in the work to refresh the original rock garden.

This year’s project provided an opportunity to continue the conversation with students and work towards Truth and Reconciliation. Barriere Secondary School was able to complete this work with the support of the District of Barriere and the generous support of Barriere Timber Mart, whom donated the materials.

Thank you to all those involved included the Barriere Visual Arts class of 2023!
